Ten days out from the start of the 2016 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, 91 yachts are making final preparations to their boats ahead of the arduous 628 nautical mile race - difficult in the rain, particularly for two internationals who purchased Australian yachts sight unseen.

Swede Jonas Grander and Richard Stain, a British yachtsman, bought their respective yachts, Matador (the former Veloce) and Samskara sight unseen. And both have been preparing in the downpour of rain over the last two days.

In other news, reports are doing the rounds that an all-indigenous crew under the name ‘Tribal Warrior’ will make history as the first indigenous entry in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. This is not the case.

Entries for the 2016 Sydney Hobart closed on Friday 28 October and the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia did not receive an entry from this, or any other, indigenous group. Perhaps next year.
